Pas de Deux

A Pas de Deux is a suite of dances that share a common theme, often symbolic of a love story.  It often begins with an entrance followed by graceful and elaborate partner dancing.  There is usually an opportunity for the dancers to show their skills and athleticism, unsurprisingly the male mostly goes first.  The conclusion sums up the dancers’ relationship, in this case the dependent bond between the woman and the vacuum cleaner.

Vacuuming still remains a chore largely carried out by women.  In the history of advertising vacuum cleaners women are often shown looking sexy, wearing impractical heels, as they push the machine around the room.  Watching a woman carrying out housework has long been the source of fetish inspiration and the vacuum cleaner seems to be a popular prop for the genre.
