Kim Thornton, performative photographer, will be claiming her prize and performing a bridge lift at Tower Bridge on Friday 17 June at 19.45. She will be dressing suitably for the occasion, carefully accessorised with a handbag crafted from non-stick scourers. She will arrive at 19.25 at the North East Control cabin and enter the cabin at 19.30. The bridge will lift at 19.45. MV Balmoral, Britain’s most travelled excursion ship, will be passing through when the bridge lifts. The ship has previously carried royal passengers and took part in the Coronation Fleet Review of Elizabeth II. Last week MV Balmoral demolished a landing pontoon in Cowes so careful attention will be focused on the steering for the event. The prize was awarded following the exhibition Art at the Bridge in the Engine Room of Tower Bridge from March 2014 to February 2015. Thornton’s work Leaving The Harbour was selected as overall winner. |
